Mardenga - Berry River. “Marg” in Vepsian - dry berries: strawberries, raspberries, currant and others
It is no secret to anyone that many villages have long disappeared in our area and this process continues to this day. Some of the names of many of the hearing, others no one knows and will never remember. But there is a village that was once the center of the whole area, and now it has practically disappeared from the face of the earth. This is the village of Mardenga.
After the Annunciation village from the asphalt road, which leads towards the Lodeika, you need to turn right. There begins a dirt road, which almost immediately abruptly goes down. I never would have thought that in our Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region such hilly terrain! The first ruins of houses immediately stand along the road.
In many villages, houses are still full of roofs, and sometimes even with whole windows. And here is just a pile of randomly piled boards.
And there are very few such houses here. Where were the remaining buildings can only be determined by the pits with smooth edges and nettles.
And how nice and quiet here in the evening! To the left of the road flows the Malinovka River, and in the bushes sing nightingales. As if they are trying to cross each other, and with such force that nothing is heard anymore. The sun at sunset barely illuminates the tops of the trees, and does not reach the village anymore. But at dawn, it should cover the whole street. But in the evening I did not take pictures, and came separately for shooting in the afternoon.
The road is good only in the first half of the village - there are still tractor plowing fields. Next to one of the road forks among the young trees, a brick foundation has been preserved. Most likely it was a school.
The village was quite large, as there is another house on the top of the hill.
Having risen to it, I was convinced of this - there are many holes overgrown with nettles around - these are places of former houses.
On the territory of the whole Mardenga there are a lot of bird cherry trees. There are small, just starting their life path, trees. And there are overgrown huge bird cherry. Their branches have already bowed to the ground from gravity.
Somewhere among the bird cherry orchards, the rickety bathhouse was lost.
And next to the road is a birch, which was hit by lightning. It already serves as a monument and reminds the rest of the trees that it is better not to grow too high alone.
The rest of the young trees that conquer their possessions from a person grow away from each other. Their form is correct, almost perfect - after all, nothing bothers them, and they can spread their branches wherever they want.
The road is becoming less distinguishable. At both edges of the road fresh arable land. And on trees of different types grow on the side of the road. Young pines, firs and birches lighten the road and create the impression of a beautiful alley in the park. The grass is still low, young greens of rich color - as if someone specially sowed a lawn here.
Finally, the road rests against the river Mardenga.
Here was once wooden bridge, but it has long been destroyed. About it remind only the collapsed pillars and rusty road sign at the bottom of the river. But once there was a full path from village to village. People rode horses, then on tractors... Nature is so quickly destroys traces of human existence, which in another ten years has it will be impossible to determine what and where it was at all!
The river Mardenga at all not deep. I was able to go over it in regular boots.
After the destroyed bridge the road has generally become difficult to distinguish. Climbing up another hill I went to a large field. Ahead is another abandoned village Ryazanovo, which has long been listed on map as a tract.
To be continued...
