Let's return to the boring city center of Vologda a little later, and now I will show a much more interesting Zavokzalny microdistrict. I captured this neighborhood a year ago as a cursory acquaintance and documented dilapidated housing. But there are neighborhoods where there are only Khruschevs Era houses (five-story brick apartment buildings).
The most interesting place is here...everywhere...Ok, I just kidding. The best places in this microdistrict are located in a small square on the border with the 5th microdistrict.
In general, the entire Zavokzalny microdistrict is slightly atypical in terms of development: houses and streets in many places stand at an angle to each other.
Some streets cut blocks diagonally. This is most likely due to the gradual development of blocks with different types of houses.
There are also many Khruschev Era houses in the center of Vologda, but there are definitely boring quarters. But there are also interesting places.
It's time to bring everything to a common denominator and identify criteria for the interestingness of courtyard spaces.
Any photographer will be interested in the presence of a water body, elevation differences, a large number of shabby walls, many trees.
Architectural structures should be the older in age, the better.
Old cars in the courtyards are also a good indicator of interest for the photographer.
Now, if you take it through life, is it good to shoot such places? After all, in fact, all this is at a low frequency. Although what am I talking about...all of Russia at such a frequency...
I keep forgetting that this is just for myself! Such night walks allow you to think about the high and the spiritual, about physics and metaphysics, and also about commonplace things.
Every time I remind myself of this when I think about the aesthetic purpose of such photographs.
The main thing is that the photographer, in addition to such pictures, takes pictures on other topics. And their goal was much more mundane and was expressed in monetary terms.
Most photographers jump between what they enjoy shooting and what they sell. And these are always plots of opposite nature.
You cannot make a postcard set from images of courtyard spaces. Although maybe a foreigner will interested in. A Russian person will definitely not buy. Russians never buy photography at all - photography is not considered art here.
And I don't care anymore, even though I'm not rich. But with the help of photography I understood the essence of life. It remains to learn how to work with this knowledge and apply it for its intended purpose. But this can already take a lifetime.
To be continued...
