In my personal opinion, times are constantly changing, wouldn’t it be foolish to follow the advice of those whose time has past? Wouldn’t it be far better to develop a strong and passionate moral compass to avoid evil things, and then be your own mentor, pursue your own things, your own life, your own way of existing. Haven’t the greatest minds in history been mostly those who lived and did things radically different without previous influence? But in order for me to actually grow I must be influenced by no one. We have entered an age where one figure who seems be experienced, and shows the psychological attraction of success through good teachings of experience from the past, can shape the world view of someone in the blink of an eye. I think we need to be completely uninfluenced, neither opinionated nor purposeless. We must build our own world view based on our own experiences, and separate our emotions from our rationality and decision making. Then I believe we can call ourselves truly intellectual. Just a bit of thinking from starting at a wall to long.
Maybe we are to much in touch with peoples opinions and ideas and out of touch with our own, and our perception of reality which is in fact a perception when muddied by our emotions.
Or who knows, it’s just me thinking this way, and from the mainstream influenced view I am out of my mind, as the mainstream has allowed it’s emotions and influencers to shape their mind, building walls separating us from great theories and new ideas. I’m not saying we should start becoming radical evil people as that would be similar to Hitler. I’m saying we need to become thinkers not feelers.
