Will Tennyson did an experiment where he only ate supplements for 2 days, while still meeting his calories and macros, and this is one of the best examples of the difference between calories, and satiety. Our bodies don't just trigger off of how nutritious a food is or how many calories it has, all of the bulk stuff that is not calories, is also important. Lets call it "ash" because it has bulk, and no calorie or vitamin contribution. And yet, if you take it away, you feel like you ate nothing at all. The fact Will was going over his calorie limits, and he still felt and reacted like he was starving, I think says a LOT about how our modern diets are sabotaging us.

2 days of that triggered him to want to binge, and obsess about food, and he hadn't done that in a very long time. Kind of scary.

I dunno why drinking a glass of milk is less satisfying than eating an apple. But given the kinds of foods we have access to, the kind that might even be convenient to us, might have a ton of calories but not actually make us feel fed. How many times have we been at work and didn't make it to the lunchroom on time, or had to work through lunch, so we hit the vending machine.
Turns out, not only does that satisfy your hunger, it actually can make you obsess about food even while you're overeating.
