You could even double up on the base coat too if you have weak nails. What I usually did was after a few days of wear when the polish starts looking dull, I would then do the second top coat so it looks all fresh again. This doesn’t work with all polishes, some just flake off if you apply over a dry layer but I used Essies Gel Couture (name misleading as it’s not a LED curing gel) top coat always.
