You’ll never catch me unpolished!
I really enjoy having my nails done and I do it myself weekly. Well I used to decorate them phalanges weekly and usually with a neutral colour, but I recently switched to gel polish that cures under LED light and it stays on wayyyy better.
I used to be a chef and never got to wear nail polish or long nails, so now that I’m over that shit I get to have pretty-ish hands. I do have eczema and crooked fingers, which is why I never flip the finger, but I overcompensate with long pretty nails.
I am a hands-on person and I abuse my fingers on the regular with all sorts of chemicals and crafts. I cook, clean, work with metal, do crafts and take long hot showers, all to the horror of my nails. I can’t stand chipped nail polish even for a day so regular polish has always been a struggle. Gel polish cures harder and you can do more thing layers to build up some strenght.
Now that I’ve finally gotten into gel polish, I can actually wear longer nails, brighter colours and even some designs. Most people can get two weeks of wear but that is still a strech to me, depending on what I’m doing at work, but it’s still waaayy better than worn out red tips on day two with regular polish.
Removing old gel polish and prepping the nails takes some time and effort but it’s so worth it. After you cure the polish under the lamp it’s good to go straight away and you can immediately start doing things without having to worry about messing the nails.
The dusty rose colour below is what I have on now and it’s only my third set so I’m definitely still learning. I’m probably gonna do a little top up some day and double up the clear top coat so I can give my natural nails more support. It really does suck to break a nail, takes months to grow it back into a nice long point.
