Welcome to the (ever growing) family Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 VR!
I know for most people the 24-70mm lens is their first choice but my bougie self opted for prime lenses first, only to realise later that might have not been the best to start with. I have Sigma Arts in 35mm and 85mm f/1.4, both of which are great, the 85mm being my favourite, but being out in the real world, they are quite limiting.
Being out on a job, I’ve noticed I really don’t have time to be switching lenses when I need a wide view and a detail shot from the same scene. I was also lacking on the wider end because 35mm especially indoors is not that wide.
After learning the hard way, I decided to listen to all the professionals and get a 24-70mm lens. Pretty much everyone agrees that you can do almost everything aside from macro and hardcore wildlife photography if you just have a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm lens.
I did my research on Youtube and saw the rave reviews on this VR version of the Nikkor 24-70mm lens. I was a bit hesitant with all those zoom lenses going up to 2.8 aperture only, since I’m used to having the insane 1.4 on my primes, but that is where the VR comes in handy. I don’t think I’ve ever had image stabilization on my lenses before so my unstable ass is pretty excited about it. I did a few tests yesterday and I can definitely slow down the shutter considerably more than I could without VR. I shoot everything handheld, unless it’s a selfie or a product shot in studio, so I think VR is going to be my best friend.
I expect this lens to be glued on my Nikon D750 from now on every time I leave the house. Pretty darn excited to be taking this baby out as soon as the Finnish bipolar weather is a bit better than rain/snow/hail/sun all within a few hours...
