When we still find beauty along the way | My entry for #Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]
Hello, black-and-white photography lovers of Hive!
Sometimes it feels as though my country is withering, gradually losing its colors, while its people barely manage to reflect a contrast that is painful to witness along the way.
I refuse to take everything for granted, and I persist in seeking out beauty, even though it often proves difficult.
Just like today, when the first thing that struck me on my way to work was this woman—who could barely walk—covering long distances in search of water that was apparently potable.
I noticed how she went unnoticed by others, yet her face, her posture, and the whole scene made a deep impression on me.
I am also struck by that other scene where a boy locks eyes with an elderly woman while the other boys remain oblivious to what is happening. A barefoot old woman, worn down by time, sitting there on a bench in the city's most central park...
An urban center where one would expect to see modern cars—or at least none as obsolete as this tractor, which seems to be as old as the theater in the background, though its weathered metalwork holds a different set of memories...
The day was turning gray, but it regained its light when I witnessed something sublime: children without mobile phones in their hands, playing in a way I hadn't seen in years—free, full of laughter, and able to breathe new life into the very act of play. I was able to capture it all, thanks to the magic of black-and-white photography, which allows us to navigate the stories found along our path.
That scene alone made me happy. What do you think?
And so, with the joy of childhood playing outdoors, I bid you farewell—sending a warm, radiant embrace to each of you—until the next black-and-white frame, but not without reminding you: keep smiling!
This is my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and
