Another weekend and another Weekend Engagement call-to-action by galenkp@galenkp. The subject I chose was about tools to play with on the weekend and I was gonna write about my favourite and most used tool, but he declined to be involved and the pictures would have been R-rated…

So my second favourite tool it is then; my Kitchen Aid!

I think we were meant to showcase power tools but while I’ve been doing some renovations lately, I can’t claim to use much tools, I leave that bit to the man. I’m sure Galen will give me a pass for showing a kitchen tool because I can make munkkis with it!

I splurged on the classic Kitchen Aid stand mixer almost ten years ago and it has served me really well. It’s due for some maintanence and a new dough hook, but other than that it’s great. I love a quality piece that you can get spare parts for indefinitely and lots of different kind of attachments suited to your needs. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s so gorgeous so it can be out on the counter always.

I only have the ice cream bowl as extra, but I am eyeing some new smaller bowls and maybe some fun things like the meat grinder and vegetable shredder thingy. I am also going to at some point get some other Kitchen Aid tools like the hand whisk and toaster.

I don’t bake weekly but when I do, Kitchen Aid mixer is always used. I make breads, pizza dough, cakes, munkkis and even mashed potatoes using the mixer.

Here’s how the Kitchen Aid used to look like before we painted it to suit my current style more, sporting the ice cream maker bowl.
