I’ve already been picking cloudberries, raspberries and bilberries this past summer and now that it’s autumn, it’s time for lingonberries! I’m gonna have such a good stash of berries in my freezer for the winter. Free food is the best!
Though nothing in this world is truly free, and in terms of wild berries, they are free for everyone here in Finland, but you have to go through the effort of picking them. Depending on the weather all throughout the year and the place, sometimes it’s easy pickings, sometimes not. This time our spot was not that great but me and mom got about 12 liters of lingonberries in two hours so that wasn’t too bad. Mom picking the bulk of it because she is a pro at this, I’m too lazy and always just aim to get a few liters for mysels and anything more than that I leave here.
