EXODUS 14:9-12

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. Vs.9
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. Vs. 10
And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Vs.11
Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. Vs. 12

We tend to feel that God isn’t answering us when things fall apart and there is no one to run to. Like the Israelite, many at times we have grumbled because of what we are facing at the moment and forgetting the many things and His goodness upon our lives and that of our family and loved ones.

Excuses, self-pity, self-comparison, complaints are evidence when we take our eyes away from His goodness upon our lives till this moment and concentrate on the things we are yet to have.

The psalmist said forget not your mercy.

PSALM 103:2

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Vs. 2

Why should we forget His goodness upon each and every one of us and that of our families and concentrate only on the things we’ve been praying for that is yet to come.

When we tend to concentrate on the things we are yet to achieve or get, we get so beclouded that we can’t see the fresh and new things He’s brought our way for success.

Just because the Israelite were unexpectedly confronted by the Red sea, they forgot the good things God has done for them in the past. They started grumbling and speaking against God and because of that, God wiped them off with the bite of a snake. Anytime they are confronted by an obstacle, they tend to forget His goodness upon their lives, how He took them through

If we focus only on what we do not have, we will be little what we have now. If we tend to focus on the things we are going through now, we will forget the good things He had done for us.

How many times like job’s wife said to the husband because of your predicament, cursed God or grumbled against Him? How many times have you questioned Him just because we feel He isn’t or yet to do the things we feel He should do or have done? How many times have we complained about a certain situation till we are tired and given up? Am here to admonish us that we shouldn’t forget the days that everything was smooth, let us not forget the days His goodness and mercy we see. Job did not because He knew that we've got times and seasons for everything on planet earth.

JOB 2:9-10

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. Vs. 9
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. Vs. 10

Let us learn to celebrate what God has done for us not what He has not done, celebrate His goodness upon our lives since the day our mothers gave birth to us. It is a priviledge that we are among the living, it isn’t by our might nor by our power, it isn’t by our becoming Christians because so many are dying every day, it isn’t by our works because so many before us did great works that the world can testify and still testify. It is His grace and goodness that has kept us.

Remember, remember, remember, and let us remember the goodness of God upon our lives.

Count your blessings. If we begin to count the goodness of God upon our lives since the day we were conceived till today, we will know that He has done so much more than that one thing we think we don’t have. We will see the goodness of God upon our lives and have reasons to praise His name.

Remembering the goodness of God is the only way to have open doors for the things you’ve been or you are expecting.

Let us take this time as a time to sit and remember the goodness of God upon our lives, family and loved one.
