Happy New Year to all in Hive community!
Yesterday it was New Year's eve and I got to spend it in a friend's house with her family. Usually, here in Greece we celebrate with our family, but this year I couldn't go home. So, in order to console me, my friend prepeared a feast for her family and me.
As you can see, there were a lot of food on the table. Thank God, my friend is "xrysoxera" (a woman with golden hands, a metaphor we use in Greece to characterize someone that is very good in household chores and cooking). She prepared many different plates and some exotic ones...
In the picture above is shows a salad with lettuce, tomato, avocado, walnuts, cheese and others, and with a special dressing that includes banana juice in it. Amazing taste. She wouldn't tell me the incredients, said it was her secret...
That also was a salad but this time, with cabbage, chicken and pineapple. I took the photo before we started devouring it, because afterwards there was nothing on the plate.
We ate a lot, we were stuffed when the clock ticked twelve and the New Year had come. Then, as custom requires drank champagne and cut our "vasilopita" to see who would get the "flouri". (In New Years day, Greek people use to bake a cake and hide a coin in it, so that the person that founds it in his/hers piece is said to be lucky all year).
I didn't get the coin in my piece of "vasilopita", but I had some much fun last night that I felt like the luckiest person in the world. Even though I didn't get to visit my family, I have found friends that are my "family", too.
