Macehat Premium Coffee is a unique coffee shop, because their best selling menu is actually a desert!
Macehat is a unique and quirky name, it was taken from 'MAkanan CEpat dan seHAT', (means: Fast and Healthy Food in Indonesian). Well, you might get even confused now.
So, this coffee shop was originally a local dinning cafe run by a family. They happen to change their business after most of the children move overseas leaving one daughter and her father which was a coffee roaster-machine salesman.
Macehat suddenly grow to a well known and must-visit cafe in Medan. Macehat's success recipe was their coffee beans. Macehat’s coffee beans are roasted to order from the selected Sumatran Mandheling beans, the jewel of Sumatra.
Well, if you are into coffee, then you must heard about Mandheling coffee beans. The famously known as the gourmet coffee through its flavor, always deliver premium cup every-time. Mandheling beans is the jewel of legendary Sumatran Coffee, even Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks always make sure it's available in Seattle, his hometown.
Their original plan was just to sell roasted coffee beans, since they operate the big roasting machine behind the original dinning cafe. But, since lots of people stopping by to taste a few sips, the coffee shops start to serves freshly brewed coffee and other beverages.
The outdoor section located on the backyard of the cafe, you can hear the roasting machine operating from here.
While the indoor section adopted the authentic decoration of Kopi Tiam style, filled with antics and old wall mountings.
Strangely, the best selling menu in this famous coffee shop is not pure coffee. It's a desert!
Enter the most favorited menu from this famous coffee shop, an Avocado Float served with a shot of espresso. The espresso is specially made from Mandheling coffee beans.
Served on a classic iced-coffee hi-top glass, it's based on blended avocado, topped with a scoop of chocolate flavored ice cream, sprinkled with cocoa powder.
You decide how much coffee you want inside by pouring the espresso shot, you can ask for more shots (additional charge apply).
To be honest, it's not as good as I expect with all the hype surround it. I've seen tons of pictures of this Avocado Float on social medias, but it was blunt.
Or may be, I just arrive on a bad day, since I realized the ice cream was half melted and I came almost an hour before the closing time.
I'm a die hard fan of waffles. I love it!
So, when I saw it on the menu, I just order it.
It was a round waffle, topped with chocolate sauce, a scoop of chocolate ice cream (half melted, I don't know why) icing sugar and like the avocado float, it served with a shot of espresso. The same espresso.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the texture of this waffle. It's too dry and crunchy, it almost felt like crepes. The chocolate sauce didn't help much.
Well, that was a good experience! I don't know if it's only me, or some bad luck on a bad day, but I don't think this cafe satisfying enough for me to come again.
So, yeah... it's a wrap!
It's been almost a week since my last post here. We got some projects to deal with in real life and almost can't give much time on social media.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
Cheers!
