y a tejer aprenderás.
There is a song that I like very much and I can't remember when or where I heard it for the first time, I guess it was during my school years because what I do remember is that I have been singing it for many years. The song is about the work of weaving a spider and begins with this verse:
Weave, weave the little spider,
weave, weave in a spiral,
watch carefully my little sister
and you will learn to weave.
Then follows another part of the song, if you wish you can read it in full here, with this song I love to make a canon, which is an excellent exercise to concentrate when singing and a good way to learn to listen to yourself when singing, either as a duet or with more people.
When I saw this spider in my backyard, I immediately remembered this song about the most magnificent weaver that can exist, she is the Lady Spider, an insect that has always seemed to me full of elegance, especially the ones of this type with their thin and slender legs, I am not usually afraid of them unless I feel they can hurt me, but usually they are not, they spend their time weaving, waiting to capture food or just looking for a new place for their web.
In addition, I think that spiders are the epitome of patience and an allegory that work well done will always bear fruit, they carefully weave the web, they join those fine threads, and they wait with stoicism for some delicacy to fall into their web, they know very well that patience is the greatest of virtues, but it must be accompanied by work to achieve a good result.
For several days I was thinking about whether or not to take her out of the yard, but in the end, I decided that I was not going to play at being a Goddess of nature, that I was going to let Mrs. Spider do her job and have her delicacies until the environment decided. I was very impressed on the occasions when I got to see her with some of her prey.
It is amazing how those fine threads support the weight of the spider and of, now, food. On one occasion she had caught a large lump, or does it look like that after she wraps it up? And on another occasion I could see her in full swing, wrapping one of her delicacies, spinning it between her legs, her precision was astonishing.
When I saw the photos of this spider I wanted to try giving a touch of grayscale to one of the photos I shared above, this gives a more mysterious aura to the figure of the spider and even helps to define a little more of its web.
Mrs. Spider is no longer on the patio, she had to look for another place because the cement constructions consumed much of the nature in her path, I couldn't help it, unfortunately. I hope that wherever she is, she will continue to grace the space with her elegance and that those who see her will not be afraid.
