This sailboat and I already have a history, written the day I set sail on it without understanding that I was going to live such an enriching experience. One of the things I learned from sailing on a sailboat is that I am now prone to seasickness, which had not happened to me before, my body, until then, had adapted very well to ferry trips to Margarita, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, boat trips to islands or even the experience of the tapaitos (boats) to go to Araya.
¡Nunca antes me había pasado!
I was able to stop the seasickness for a while thanks to the deep breaths and then enjoying the scenery was wonderful, however, once we anchored I went down to the cabin and a swaying motion made me go from seasickness to vomiting. It had never happened to me before! I felt a bit uncomfortable with my fellow passengers, but they were encouraging at all times, as well as the ship's captain who joked to alleviate my discomfort.
Despite the discomfort I entered the sea and there I felt 100% me again, reaching the shore of the island and enjoying the beauty of the place arranged for our small group.
When I returned to the sailboat I felt dizzy again, but I kept taking the good things from the trip, filling my eyes with the blues and reflecting on how we can always extract something positive from our experiences, let's say that this trip was a kind of Ayahuasca, each return came to purify me, that's how I felt.
I would never have been able to enjoy these beautiful views without having boarded the sailboat and despite the seasickness and its consequences I was able to enjoy the moment, especially the return trip, because it was time to open the sails, at that moment was that I understood in all its meaning the phrase: with the wind at my back.
It was something magical and dazzling to be able to feel how the sailboat sailed on the sea only by the impulse of the wind, sometimes it stopped and it was time to change course. Like life itself, yes? There the captain would mark the destination, the sail would find the wind, and the sailboat would resume its course to a safe harbor.
To be able to enjoy the sunset that day is something I will never forget, to feel that connection with the sea, which in principle I could not get, was such a sublime experience that only makes me sigh remembering it.
The sailboat reconfirmed to me that despite the bad moments, if I am constant, if I set my course and continue to be the captain of my life, I can reach a safe port, that no matter how many seasicknesses I may have at sea, that enjoyment is still possible, it reconfirmed to me that in certain moments you just have to expel to feel relief.
I continue to collect sunsets and seas, I am still immerse in the enjoyment of new experiences, I continue to prove that life is better when you share it with good people and that if you go out on a sailboat even if you can get seasick sooner or later you will enjoy a lot, life is an adventure and you have to throw yourself into it.
