I used to be my worst enemy I was use to criticize myself. Most of the worried about myself, be self absorbed, and constantly think about my shortcomings as well as those of others. But I woke up one morning to find out that I had a decision to make on what I would be pursuing in life. There was one way I could stay in the dangerous cycle of negativity or I could decide to love myself.
it wasn’t quite simple in the initial stage, I had to learn how to programme myself to think positively and consider my success instead of my failures. It took me years to accept my value and came to the conclusion that I would have to be me not them.
But gradually, when I begin to speak to myself with love and encouragement, I saw the change that was happening inside of me. I was more confident and growing the power to get things done without someone’s pity. I decided to increase the level of risk taking and continued making decisions that brought out the best in me and provided me with a sense of fulfillment and not limitations.
This was how i came to the process of learning to love myself more, to accept myself as I am, and it wasn’t vain at all. It was necessary. Thus, by affirming the love for myself, I was empowered to become more present in the world. I thought I could make better relationships, chase a dream, and generally be true to myself.
Though I hate admitting it, I am still not use to having a few bad days where I feel so down and unsure of myself. But I have learnt that I deserve to be loved, respected and that I deserve to enjoy every moment of my life. It has been when that knowledge came into realization that everything began to change.
