Most of the NFL team the Houston Texans chose to kneel or sit for the anthem. Why? Due to a comment their owner made. Now, personally I do not see an issue with the figure of speech used but in our overly sensitive culture it was not the wisest. He said something to the effect of 'cant let the inmates run the prison' during an owner meeting to imply the players are more or less running the show publicly and as we know its been bad for their business. Seems like people are not watching as much, personally I havent watched a game and I normally watch every possible game. But that is besides the point I would like to make. Lets say for argument sake he is a bigot and literally meant they were like inmates to him. Then....
How on earth is kneeling for the anthem a protest against him? You are turning your fan base against you. Again you are disrespecting the flag not the owner of the team. They arent creative enough to protest their owner in their own fashion so they piggyback off the already controversal protest. Ignorance at its best. The anthem and flag dont represent the owner in the least bit. I thought Texans would be better than that. Protest all you want. Freedom of speech is great, leave the flag, which is the symbol of your god damn freedom, out of it.
