I am pissed, angry, sad, and scared. there are so much more emotions I am feeling right now that I cannot even totally express

I remember as a child, how i can easily trek to school with my friends, and return home safe and sound, my parents do not even need to bother because they were sure i would come back home to them.

Well That is no more the case these days, because seeing your child in the morning and welcoming them back home from school is now a luxury in Nigeria. Even the adults at the university level are not left out.

Going to school whether primary, secondary or university used to be the goal for every child but right now it is even scary to think about. All these hit differently, when you have a child, who would soon get the age of attending school and getting a formal education.

So

I woke u today avoiding Instagram because it has just been too toxic for me over the last few days, too much negativity and it was almost messing with my positive energy so I let it be.

I decided to watch some movies on my Dstv, But it rained and most stations were scrambled except my channel Tv for some reason, channels is a station for news updates, and for some reason again I decided to watch channels today, watching news reminds me of my days in my father's house.

As I was enjoying the regular daily update about the country, they started showing an explosion incident that happened in a school in kano.

I was in shock for more than 30min, imagining what everyone involved must be going through, the kids were looking so clueless and in pain..it broke my heart. The dead just laid there lifeless...

Have constant killings become a norm?

In the last few weeks, it has been killing and death cases back to back, from the two burnt victims for very silly reasons to the explosion and the many rape victim especially kids that have lost their life the last few weeks.

I am overwhelmed, I am trying to shut my mind off everything but nothing is working.

Where are our leaders? Why is no one showing genuine interest in putting an end to all these menaces?

How can we feel safe again🥺

I had to call a friend, so I get how I feel off my chest because I know she would relate to how I am feeling and she was in tears as we spoke, telling me all that is happening around her in The North and how they all live in fear every day.

The idea of freedom of speech is not in play in some parts of Nigeria because she said she has to watch what she laughs about and says to anyone. Because , anything can trigger anyone to become violent towards you.

I was speechless and devastated at all the things I have come to know and understand this morning alone and I am sure this is barely 1/3 of the real issues we face every day in the country.

Please lets all be safe out there, there is something known as

“Wrong place at the wrong time”

and i pray we never get caught up in a situation like that.

IT IS WELL, STAY SAFE.
