I remember during women’s day or it could be a random day of me surfing through the internet as usual. When I saw a post with a lady wearing a shirt that reads
I am a woman, what’s your superpower”?
It made me smile but then I had to go back and read the comment on the person's post and the smile went away.
I can completely understand what women go through, in the workplace, at home, in their life, and their health but the comments were centered on body changes women go through, the pain from everything, ovulation, mensuration, birthing a child, postpartum, even breastfeeding. I didn’t interpret those words like a lot of people in the comment did.
I saw it as being strong, being able to create a life balance between work and family, and not letting society dictate life for you. I got really sad because this isn’t the first time I have seen women identify themselves majorly by the pain they go through and that shouldn’t be the case. we should not be called superheroes as women just because we can handle pain.
That is why when I saw the question for this week’s edition
Hive can be a wild west sometimes, anything can happen. So imagine you can choose a superpower, but you must choose only one so you have to do that carefully. What superpower will you choose? How will you use it? Any plans on doing something special?
All I genuinely want is THE POWER TO TAKE AWAY PAIN. If only I had that ability, I could help a lot of people. There is just so much hurt and pain in this world, it is even worst when we are identified by the pain we face or go through and I would love to get the ability to do something about that.
Have you ever seen someone in genuine pain and you are completely helpless and just confused about what to do?
The other day I saw a sickle cell patient crying in pain, I know her to have a strong pain threshold and for her to burst out in tears like that screaming, it must have been extremely painful...if only I had the power to help
I know labor pain for one is almost inevitable, Good thing epidurals were produced but not every woman who wants it can afford it.in such a case, my power can be helpful even to other related pains women complain about every day.

Mind you I am not sidelining our men, we all go through pain one way or the other and no gender pain is greater than the other.
PAIN IS PAIN
If I get the power, I would not be biased with my pain-relieving ability. But I know I would struggle a lot with measuring one pain over another, knowing which to prioritize helping first..
until then
I know I am not God and these are powers he only can possess even if I can dream or write a post about it. That’s why I ensure I put everyone, anywhere going through pain, I may never understand completely what it's like but I do hope they find comfort and rest wherever they are.
