Lately, I have taken adulting to a whole new level with my excessive worrying over every little thing or issue.the crypto market is not even helping matters seeing I have got some money in the bear market right now (this is my first dip market experience)then stress from family regarding getting a job or even me stressing over finding multiple streams of income .it has just been a whole lot for me these few days.
The other day when I was in my silly element of worrying about an issue, I turned to my son who was so focused on his cartoon (cocomelon), smiling and swinging to the rhythm of the song and I said out loud
“This boy has no single Worry in the world”
They had on one of his favorite rhymes “wheels on the bus” i dropped all i was doing joined in and sang to the song, joined him on his play mat and i kept singing and turned it to our mini karaoke. He looked at me grinning from ear to ear.
The look on his face gave me this peace and assurance that I forgot everything I was worrying about and at that point sitting there, I was sure nothing else in the world mattered.
As usual our sweet PHCN(power holding company of Nigerian) took their light, i was even glad because i didn’t want him having too much screen time so i needed to get other means to keep him busy and happy.
I remember we had some bubble wraps from the item we purchased, i got it out and we played with it as we tried to burst the bubbles together, played with his toys together, we played peek-a-boo (the typical hide and seek)and finally read a book as he quietly feel asleep and I joined in too.
It was a nice rest..
I woke up feeling like a big load was off my shoulders
When i checked the time while he was still having his nap I didn’t realize how much time had passed and how much time i stayed without worrying about anything in the world rather i enjoyed the moment as i unleashed my inner child and took a power nap.
It didn’t end there.
Later that evening,my partner fortunately brought back skittles for me, when i opened it all i could think about was throwing it in the air and catching it with my mouth (AGABAYA like me) and i did, missed a few in the beginning but got the hang of it.
It brought back so much memories from when we were young and free . our days on the see-saw, swings and HiDe and seek..i am even being too international about the games . Remember our local TINKO-TINKO, TEN-TEN, SUWE, GAME BOX (add to the list the ones you remember).
But you get the picture yes?
I understand we take upon ourselves more responsibilities as we get older but if there is anything those few hours with my son taught me, it’s that we should let loose our inner child once awhile. laugh really loud, get hugs and kisses regularly, ask silly questions like kids would do, maybe play with your food too( ok i am going too far).
I read somewhere that playing has the same important as sleeping for adults because of its emotional and mental impact, I guess the saying is true.
Playing is my New found hobby ✅
If you find yourself worrying or stressing play a little which ever physically game you choice , maybe try jumping on a trampoline or just jumping up and down a room.
Unleash your inner child .
