Back to today's gist
hello, guys!!!
It's been 24hrs without hive. I know it's a short time but felt like ages since I opened my notepad to write.
Yesterday was a long Saturday, felt like it wasn't going to end, and it was exhausting.
She gave me permission to use this picture of us on my wedding day.
It was my sister in laws birthday yesterday, @tosanscott calls her our ATM MACHINE because of how generous and kind she is with her money to us all. Trust me without mincing words she is the best. So we planned to go spend the day with her when she told us she wouldn't be home for the birthday because she has a one-year-old birthday party to attend with her kids. She won't mind if we tagged along too.
We were skeptical about going o, we had to consider the journey, the birthday location was at AJAH and we stay on the mainland around BERGER. The proper description of the distance for non-Lagosian and non-Nigerian is
Journeying from the beginning of a city to the end.
(I am not exaggerating)
But it was a commitment we had to give because the family of the celebrant has always shown up for us on every one of our occasions. The mother of the birthday girl baked my wedding cake, she traveled to another state to present my cake and ensure it was ok and every family wedding I have attended ever since has been a hit because of a cake.

So trust me to oblige to go for the journey for the cakes too馃榾.
We started our journey at about noon, I know it was late..everyone had so much to do and prepare for besides we anticipated a 2hr drive at best so we would arrive exactly at the supposed birthday party starting time.
Well, we anticipated wrong.
A 2hr drive from BERGER to AJAH took 5 hours instead. That a journey to Ibadan and back or journey to Benin city from Lagos which is over 300km. Meanwhile, our journey was supposed. to be 50km Drive but as usual Lagos traffic.
I still do not understand the joy anyone would derive from staying on the island of Lagos state. I hear so many stories of Lagos island traffic, especially my friends who stay there and have to leave for work as early as 4.00 am to arrive at 8.00 am and close at 8.00 am to arrive at 11 pm or 12noon.
| Traffic | traffic |
It sounded exaggerated till I sat on that drive for over 5 hours with a cranky baby on top馃檮.
No, I cannot emphasize enough how crazy this traffic was. I stay on the mainland and sincerely there is no traffic that I have entered that is crazy because there are so many alternate routes on the mainland so they must be another way out somehow, but the journey to the island is one route, one way in one way out.
We arrived at the location and saw all the guests already leaving. The cake, food, and drinks that I anticipated were finished, so we thought.
Trust our host to have kept everything for us, from food, drinks, and snacks, and on top of all that she baked a surprise cake for my sister-in-law, we went to celebrate her birthday party instead.
The meal was so nice, I had a plate full of coconut rice, fried rice, jollof rice, salad, fish, and chicken with a glass of Chapman. It was a mini feast馃槀馃槀.
I needed to replenish all I have lost from the trip and I did.
We couldn't leave till about 8 pm because we had our goggle map showing us how bad or clear the traffic was, we got ourselves comfortable, lucky I came prepared, before 7 pm I gave Leroy his dinner (oatmeal), I bathed him, change his clothes to his nighties and prepared him for bed on The move. So I don't mess with our usual routine but the minute we saw 2hrs to our destination on the map, we moved.
I arrived at my house at exactly 11:40 pm almost midnight, because 2hrs became almost 4 hours. But really when is there no traffic ok the island.
If you know anyone staying in Lagos Island, please send my regards to them
It was good to be home and back to my space and my bed, although the day didn't go as planned I was glad we had time to bond as a family during the drive.
