I would appreciate your candid advice regarding the subject.thank you
We are back from grandma’s house. In my previous post, I talked about how we went to surprise my mother-in-law, the plan was to stay a night but we spent 2 nights. We would have stayed longer but she has a school to run and weeks days are always busy for her.
This short trip opened my eyes to something that I felt guilty about when it comes to my baby.
The Leroy I know is the jolliest and goofiest baby to be around but all these changed when we arrived at grandma’s place. I almost didn’t recognize the child I was holding.
Leroy has lots of cousins ranging from 9month old to 5 years old and somehow they all decided to cover the house so we all can spend time together and get to know baby Leroy because we barely visit so it was a full house. I was so excited that Leroy gets to play with other kids because he loves playing so much, we stay up late playing together most days so I was sure it was going to be nice.
But I thought wrong😑...
He was not having it and didn't want to play with anyone but himself. He would crawl to a corner with his toys and play or come
To me and wants to play with me. I tried taking him back to stay with the other kids but he wasn’t having it.
Food time, he wouldn’t want to eat in front of strangers, Leroy that eats with excitement suddenly decided that he didn’t like eating. I took him to the room with no one in sight and he ate with so much joy, that immediately anyone comes in or he sights someone abstract he closes his eyes and refuses to continue.
Picture time wasn’t left out, he didn’t want to take pictures with anyone there, he loves the camera but not these past few days. He cried more than he has cried in the last few months. I cannot remember the last time he cried so hard just because of people around.
I felt so bad that my baby has become Anti-social. I won’t blame him because for over 3 months now it has been just the two of us at home all day every day with no one in sight.
When we leave the house for church, he is either in my arms or sleeping and we are back home. I didn’t know how much this has affected him till these past few days.
My mother-in-law suggested he starts creche, that this was the same issue she had with her son, Leroy’s dad and really till now my husband is so anti-social... always indoors, does not eat or talk much in public and always runs home from any event. I do not want that for my son.
So I went out to look for creche around my environment and finally found the best fit, neat, organized, fun, and interesting. I stayed for 30min to see how the kids were cared for and I loved what I saw, the caregiver was super nice and lovely to speak with.
a part of the creche
Now I feel bad that I have to him to the crèche, this was never the plan but he needs to socialize with other kids his age. He is supposed to begin tomorrow but my heart can’t take it. The matron there says I try 3 hours first and gradually add the time he spends away from me but it is going to be hard for me to let go.
It would be a good thing for me too to have a life outside caring for my baby, I could go out and relax or even get a job and get busy with other things but it's just hard to come to this reality.
I want what is best for him and I hope this is it!!
What do you think? Does he need to go to the creche or i could just let him be?
A mí y quiere jugar conmigo.
