Anger is a very strong emotion that we as humans rarely have control over it. Sometimes we keep burying our anger thinking we are controlling it but we are actually building it up for a bigger blast. There are sometimes when we are angry, we feel like hitting someone or something, breaking stuffs, saying things that we don't mean, but the question now is how do you calm yourself when you get angry?
What builds or breeds anger depends on what situations we are caught in or what has happened to us. For me, what breeds my anger is frustration. One of my traits is, I am slow to anger, but when I get angry, it is usually due to frustration. Now, we all have what triggers our anger which is part of what makes us different from the next person close to us.
How do I calm myself when angry?
The most favourite way I calm myself when I get angry is through working out my anger in the gym. When I do this, I make sure I am worn out totally before leaving the gym. What exercises help me? When I am in an angry state, I usually do boxing, skipping non-stop, squats and finally pull-ups. When I am done with these exercises I find out that anger is gone and I feel light at heart.
Another way I calm myself is by getting a bowl of ice cream, eat while I watch TV (my favourite comedy shows) to lighten up my mood. I usually fall back for this measure because I am definitely feeling lazy to go to anywhere.
Music is also a way I use to calm myself when I get angry. Most times I listen to classical or jazz. So my favourite artist for classical is Enya and for jazz is Kenny G. These two artists have helped in the past few years to manage my anger properly with their albums.
These are the three ways I manage and calm myself when I get angry and for once I'd not regret using these methods because it has helped to better handle my anger.
So how do you calm yourself when you get angry?
