¡Hola Chicos!
Hi everyone!
A few days ago, I mentioned that I had taken my son to register for a chance to get a full scholarship for an English course at a well-known local institution. That day, we were told we needed to fill out a form with his details and then wait for them to contact us regarding the interview.
We had no idea how long this might take, but yesterday we finally received a message on my phone letting us know that he needed to show up for the interview today at 1:00 PM.
My son has classes in the morning, so we arranged things so that as soon as he got back, he could get ready and we could head to the interview.
We finally left the house, and luckily, it didn't take long to catch the transport that dropped us off right in front of our destination: the Chamber of Commerce in the city of Cabimas.
We had left home a bit late, but fortunately, there weren't many people waiting when we arrived, so we were still among the first in line.
We relaxed a little while we waited. It was just minutes before 1:00 PM, so we didn't have to wait very long. The organizers arrived, and we were finally given the go-ahead to go inside and wait.
Upon arrival, we asked who was last in line so we could figure out our position. Once inside, the kids lined up, and then we all moved into a room to wait. Unfortunately, there was no electricity, so we had to wait in the heat and the dark.
After waiting a few minutes, it was finally my son's turn; he had been quite nervous, but when he came out, he told me the questions were very simple—just personal details like his age and address, things we had already written on the form we filled out previously.
Given how simple the interview was, we aren't sure if it was just a formality and all the kids had already been selected, but we’ll find out in the coming days.
After leaving there, the plan was to go to the "El Castillo" store to check the price of some fabrics I needed for bows I’d been commissioned to make.
On the way, we came across a shop selling cepillados (shaved ice treats) and decided to get some. My son wanted a chicha flavor, while I bought a Samba and Oreo one. To be honest, I didn't like the taste at all; it was too artificial for my liking.
We finally arrived at El Castillo, where I discovered the type of fabric I needed and took the opportunity to buy some thread in the haberdashery section.
It was a different kind of afternoon; now, all that’s left is to wait for word on whether my son was awarded the scholarship. We hope with all our hearts that he gets it, as it is a great opportunity for him and his future. I’ll let you know how it turns out. ♥
