Peltophorum pterocarpum (copperpod, flamboyant gold, yellow flamboyant, yellow flower tree, yellow poinciana, chinta or pachha sunkes in Telugu, "perunkonrai" in Tamil, "radhachura" in Bengali) are Peltophorum species, native to Southeast Asia tropical and ornamental trees popular that grows all over the world.
It is a deciduous tree that grows as high as 15-25 m (rarely up to 50 m), with a trunk diameter of up to 1 m belonging to the Leguminosae family and the Caesalpiniaceaea sub-family. The flowers are yellow, 2.5 - 4 cm in diameter, produced in large compound bunches up to 20 cm long.
This tree is widely grown in the tropics as an ornamental tree, especially in India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Florida and Hawaii. Trees planted in India as a common scheme for tree roads in India alternate with Delonix regia to give a striking yellow and red effect in summer, as has been done on the Hughes road in Mumbai.
