Everything have been simmering for a while, but a phone call in midsummer made things boil. I got a call from a stranger that had heard about me from my old co-worker and wanted to hire me.
The big wheel started to turn and after just a week from that phone call i was taking a test shift in a restaurant, far a way from home.
I haven’t been doing a la carte style cooking for a while so the test shift made me both excited and anxious. But i have done it most of my career so i thought i’d got it. And i did. Oh the adrenaline, how have i missed it! Cooking isn’t just cooking. The profession of chef is 70% cleaning and washing dishes and 30% actually cooking and plating. So, I actually do what i do for that 30% and i just cope with the 70% i hate.
The place i took that test shift it was 99% pleassure as there was actually person who washed dishes and cleaner who toon care of everything i hate about cooking! Gotta love it.
Even if everything went better than well and they loved my effort i can’t help thinking the leap of faith i’m about to take.
Yet again i’m about to leave everything i know behind me and trust that i’ll fall on my feet. I know it is somewhat idiotic desision to resign from steady job with secure monthly income but i just can’t do it anymore. I’m not even sure am i trying to convince myself or somebody else.
First i thought i was convincing my family, but as they are super excited and happy for me, i must have been convincing my self. For what?
