Midday hike to the end of the Logarska Valley in northern Slovenia.
The day is reasonably cold and as we venture further into the valley the rain starts to turn into wet snow.
The last kilometer of the road isn't plowed so we park our car at the road's edge and hike on and up towards the waterfall.
Forty minutes later here it is. A wonderful view even on a cloud-covered day with a gentle snowfall.
The height of the waterfall is 105 meters in three stages. The lowest and tallest stage is visible from below with its 90 meters of magnificence. It is one of three sources of river Savinja, the longest river flowing in its entirety inside the country.
When it's really cold the waterfall has a layer of ice over the falling water. Next week the temperatures will drop to minus ten and the ice will start to form.
The structure to the right is called The Eagle's Nest for obvious reasons. It's a tiny mountain hut where you can get a beer, coffee, rest. It's closed now for different obvious reasons.

When you are close to the waterfall you are soaked by the spray of the water. The draft is pulling the drops away from the cliff and straight in your face. A wonderful feeling.
On our return, I notice this boulder with stone towers on it.
As we hike back we are grateful for nature's wonders and the beauty they bring to our souls.
