Victor and Rory trudged through the dense woods, their flashlights casting eerie shadows on the trees. They had been walking for hours, but they still had no sign of Kanaq.

"I'm getting tired of this," Rory said, her voice laced with annoyance. "We should have taken care of Kanaq by now."

Victor nodded, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "Patience, Rory. We'll find him soon enough."

As they walked, Victor stumbled upon something buried in the underbrush. He picked it up, brushing off the dirt.

It was an old, leather-bound book. The cover was adorned with strange symbols and markings, and the title "Le Livre des Ténèbres" was etched in bold, crimson letters.

Victor's eyes widened as he opened the book. The pages were filled with dark, arcane rituals and incantations.

"What is this?" Rory asked, peering over Victor's shoulder.

"I don't know," Victor replied, "but it looks like some kind of voodoo ritual book."

As they continued to examine the book, they began to feel a creeping sense of unease. It was as if they were being watched, and the trees seemed to be closing in around them.

And then, they saw it. A dark, shadowy figure lurking just beyond the treeline.

Victor's heart racing, he grabbed Rory's arm. "Do you see that?" he whispered.

Rory nodded, her eyes wide with fear. "What is it?" she whispered back.

Victor shook his head. "I don't know, but I think it's been following us."

As they watched, the figure began to move closer, its presence seeming to fill the air with an unspeakable evil.

Victor and Rory backed away, their hearts pounding in their chests. They knew that they had to get out of there, and fast.

But as they turned to run, they realized that they were lost. The woods seemed to have shifted and twisted around them, and they had no idea which direction to go.

The figure loomed closer, its presence growing more menacing by the second.

Victor and Rory knew that they were running out of time. They had to find a way out of the woods, and fast. But as they looked around, they realized that they were completely alone.

And then, everything went black.

When Victor came to, he was lying on the ground, his head throbbing with pain. Rory was nowhere to be seen.

He stumbled to his feet, his eyes scanning the surroundings. The woods were silent, the only sound the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Victor knew that he had to find Rory. He called out her name, but there was no response.

He began to search the woods, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that they were running out of time.

As he walked, he stumbled upon a clearing. In the center of the clearing stood an ancient, crumbling statue. The statue depicted a twisted, demonic figure, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy.

Victor felt a chill run down his spine as he approached the statue. He knew that this was no ordinary statue.

Suddenly, he heard a faint whispering in his ear. The words were indistinguishable, but the malevolent intent was clear.

Victor spun around, but there was no one there. The whispering grew louder, more urgent.

He knew that he had to get out of there, and fast. But as he turned to run, he realized that he was surrounded by an unseen force.

The whispering grew louder, more menacing. Victor knew that he was running out of time.

And then, everything went black.

When Victor came to, he was lying on the ground, his head throbbing with pain. Rory was standing over him, her eyes cold and calculating.

"Get up," she said, her voice devoid of emotion. "We have to get out of here."

Victor stumbled to his feet, his eyes scanning the surroundings. The woods were silent, the only sound the rustling of leaves in the wind.

He knew that they had to find Kanaq's niece. But as they walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.

The woods seemed to be closing in around them, the trees twisting and turning in ways that seemed impossible.

Victor knew that they were running out of time. They had to find Kanaq's niece, and fast. But as they walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking deeper into the heart of madness.
