Violet
An angel's tear
that wells up from the pavement
near the martyr's marble
holds a violet sadness.
It peeks out timidly
so no one might see it,
wearing the forgotten hue
of things that are certain.
I see it as one who takes
a sip of springtime's breath,
though I know it hasn't grown
to boast of its largeness:
Tear of a fallen angel
that moans beneath the earth.

Una lágrima de ángel
que brota desde la acera
cerca del mármol al mártir
tiene violácea tristeza.
Asoma con timidez
para que nadie la viera
tiene el color olvidado
de las cosas que son ciertas
La veo como quien toma
un sorbo de primavera,
aunque sé que no ha crecido
para ufanar de grandeza:
Lloro de ángel caído
qué gime bajo la tierra.
