As an individual, I am very careful about tagging music as bad. In fact, I have chosen not to consider any form of music bad, and my reasons are simple. Inasmuch as there is that one person who would speak of loving a particular genre, I am of the opinion that music should not be considered bad for any reason. Many will certainly not agree with me on this, most especially our elderly ones, but that is my simple opinion.
Just like most people, I too have a favourite song. I also like every other person to have a favourite genre, but that is no reason to consider any other genre bad. It is not just the case that I do not consider any music bad; I consider every genre that there is to be good, and that has kind of helped broaden my interest and knowledge of music. Now, there are times when even the genre that I would originally not have considered my favourite becomes my most desired. Thus, I am of the opinion that playing the right music at the right time and for the right audience is all that matters.
Afro genres are my favourite, most especially the easy-going ones. To be specific, I prefer contemporary highlife. That notwithstanding, I have a very vast taste for music, and that has caused me to delve into some other genres, even the ones that are not Afro in any way. Sometimes, I even get to vibe with songs that I would originally not have played at the comfort of my home. Sometimes, I am influenced by the environment and the happenings of that particular time. And that is what I am talking about: just play the right music at the right time.
In all, it is the case that I have only allowed my love for my favourite genres not to cloud my judgement on every other genre. Funny enough, there have been times when these genres that are supposed to be my worst actually enticed me. In all then, I think it is all about playing the right music at the right time and for the right audience. Thus, the question should probably be based on right and wrong music instead of good or bad.
