Walking to the place
where the trees begin,
tired of feeling disappointed,
jaded, and disjointed,
worried that the life
I dreamed would
never come to be.
Entering the place
where the trees began,
returning to my center
and all that it brings,
coming to terms with things,
remembering my wings.
Life doesn't always
unfold as we planned
but still, we must
go on living
as best we can.
Throughout our years
we give everything
and so often receive nothing at all,
there are times we must
suffer a hundred falls,
decipher thousands of flaws.
What's the meaning
of it all?
In the end we're
only trying to fill up
our empty spaces.
Walking from the place
where the trees have ended
back in this
merciless world, un-offended
by anyone or anything,
because I now, again,
feel my wings
and realize my heart,
it never really stopped singing,
it’s just that I stopped
listening to its song.
