I think this is one of my favorite pieces you've written because it captures recalling these moments of pure joy so beautifully. What you describe happens to me a lot. I recall landing in Amsterdam for the first time in 2016, still drunk from too many glasses of red wine I'd had on the plane to try to get some sleep (it didn't work). The euphoria of being to Europe for the first time, the worry of having to speak in front of hundreds in just a few hours. Then getting lost in Schiphol trying to find the Uber pick-up. Driving the Ring of Kerry in Ireland and experiencing an untold number of little villages along the way. My most favorite — walking along the streets of Covent Garden in London for the first time all alone in 2019. Goose bumps raised on my arms and I literally felt like I wanted to burst into tears because it felt like I'd come home after being away forever. Then my brother and I putting 30+ miles on eBikes in Montreal in a day, seeing every corner of the city. Making these memories, then recalling them, is what makes life worth living.
