I would have zero issues with these taxes if they were actually used for the purposes the government stated they would be used for and our roads were in good condition. I'm glad to hear Japan is doing the honorable thing and using the revenue as intended. We have a friend who lives in Tokyo but he and his wife don't own a car. He has nothing but good things to say about the society and overall quality of life.
