I agree with all of that comment, Nancy! This post was just a glimpse into my inner thoughts in the eleventh hour of a book launch. There's no better metaphor for writing a book than bringing a child into the world. Publishing that book feels like that child leaving home and going out to make their way in the world.

I read someone the other day that said he thought "artists were like adults trying to make a living out of playing make-believe" and it got me thinking about how some of the more practical/non-creative people think about us...this sparked my "GoFundMe" line from above. I hope to not get a lot of these kinds of sales—I hope it's people who actually enjoy it.
