We are all selfish and sinners and need to be loved despite our shortcomings, I think. Coming off short in a relationship and getting over the barriers of feeling not understood, neglected, and also being oblivious towards what others need from us, is normality, I would say. The active interest in the other human being is a precious thing which can be quickly disturbed, so it's an art to maintain a balance between harmony and disharmony. I agree, it takes patience and nurture to build on a deeper relationship. Though I'd say this was not the case for me so much when I was younger. I did not think that much about these matters and got involved more spontaneiously and made friends left and right. HaHa!
