HeHe ;) Have you watched MTV? It was a British format but I guess it became known worldwide?

Kids are smart, aren't they. They realise that the modesty of parents in the material sense has to contend with an immodesty in the mental sense. The many contradictions I saw in my parents, especially my mother, were difficult to get to the heart of as a child, a high level of irritation and rejection of any proselytising was a result of this. Unnoticed, however, one becomes a kind of missionary oneself - although the subject matter seems to be different - and runs into strong headwinds. HaHa! Perhaps the poem I recently wrote on this subject fits here:

I tried to be
to be a good person, day in and day out,
I strained, I waxed eager.

But does this phrase hit me right?
Is it true that I did?
To strive, day in and day out?
Was I honestly it?

What are those days when I was good?
Was I good every minute, every hour?
And is it true, this best of power?

Yes, it is true.
That I was striving.
And as I look at what result it makes
how much sleep it takes
I can say striving was not worth the effort.

To be good, toil is not needed
It is the toil itself, the effort of
to be just and to be fair
that stifles goodness
in the diligence and zeal
the rigour
the weight of my speech
the observance of rules
the show of my deeds.

Where good happened
it happened through me
just like that!

And just like that! without thought
without attraction
without adding and without substraction
the moment of goodness comes forth
effortless, spontaneous, unpretentious

I halt wanting to become good
in order to be fine
In fact
I wave goodness fare well
it's not mine.
