Maybe you know the Julklapp custom?
We often do it here, or it's a tradition among work colleagues and in clubs, to give each other things that we got ourselves once and don't use or find ugly. HaHa! It's like flea markets. What has become obsolete for some becomes desirable for others. We've always had a lot of fun at the Julklapps and it's definitely a custom you could introduce, as you don't want to pander to gift consumerism.

I agree, we have everything, and what we don't have, no one can give you anyway. Because no one can afford it. ;)
