HaHa! I misunderstood you there!
The doctrine of bodily fluids seems naïve from today's point of view. I agree, I wouldn't dismiss it completely out of hand, a certain understandable element shows up in it (without having someone drain my blood from me... ugh!).
I find the doctrine of mental forces fascinating, the distinction of characters into sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic seems to me to be the basis for later "modern" psychology. Whereby it is to be taken with caution to make this subdivision categorically (as "we" know:).
The ancients were probably less helpless than we assume, if significance is to be attached to the findings according to which the bone skulls show traces of surgical drill holes in the skull that go back far into time.
I don't think, that one replaced the other, bodily teachings did not replace spiritual teachings, the two apparently always went hand in hand, each with overhangs to one side or the other in their time.
I used an elastic band on my wrist, and I snapped it hard whenever I committed a transgression
LOL! Did I mention that I think you're funny? :D
