HaHa, interesting how you pic up the theme. :D
I am not familiar with Faust, never read it. Maybe I should. I don't know, if there is a version in easy German, though.
For Tolkiens part: It ended badly for Sauron. So you may be on the wrong end when you wish too much to become a secret collector - LOL
I would not want to see all your secrets, for if I knew them all, I maybe would not be surprised by you any longer and your predictability would cause me to turn away. Since I am not a greedy collector of secrets and since it's impossible for me to know them all, I think we are fine. HaHa!
For nothing in the world I would like to have almighty power - too much stress to control everything and not being able to satisfy all parties. All the fun would be gone - and people complaining all over the places that I reign wrongly, while my flatterers never tell me the truth and tell me, I am "all amazing". Of course, in order to avoid the cacophonies I could just kill them all, when I am in a bad mood.
If you think it through, thoroughly, what happens if you are almighty and immortal? What would happen after all your wishes came true, when you can make everyone fulfilling them by your force?
