The traces can vanish or get deeper, depending on where the present "I" decides to walk.

When you look at the earth from a great height, the mountains look like nerve tracts, some are deeply incised, others less deep. If you look at a forest from above and you see the paths of wild animals, some clearly, some less clearly, then what runs on it and has left this trail may not be there anymore, but new life follows these trails.

I would think that similar connections are happening in my body, which offers the environment for learning, that is always making or following a path in the present situation. If this path is taken only once, there is no trace left. If I decide to take the path many times and many of them, many tracks remain. But these traces are not the "I".

So it all depends on one another and of course, those paths deeply embedded represent something which is learned and therefor habit. But is it "me" or just "habit"?
