I was keen on finishing my ongoing WIPs, so I start with this. This was literally a sketch before I picked it up again, unlike my other WIPs which already had initial progress.
The motivation and inspiration came from listening to Taylor Swift's newest album, folklore. The music was beautiful, and the lyrics to the songs powerful. The best part about Taylor's music is how great she is at storytelling.
I had been particularly taken by the words
in the song, my tears ricochet, which is one of my two favorites from the album.
When I first put together the context to this drawing, Taylor Swift's songs in folklore definitely wasn't part of any motivation or inspiration. I was taken by this particular photo called she by Natasha Yankelevich, and my love for pink and purple and anything fairy.
I was reminded of how I loved to draw Naruto fan arts in the previous years, particularly of Sakura Haruno and her pink hair. The color choices had been easy -- I always color with purple whenever I draw "fairy"-related things (Exhibit A, Exhibit B).
I got a little problematic with how I'd colored the hair. I can't get it to look a bit more natural. Normally I would stick with just using the pencil tool for the hair, but there had been a lot of watercolor brush used on the hair, too.
Colors were adjusted twice through Snapseed and CS6.
One of my two favorites from the folklore album (and I think my Top 1 favorite) is exile, which featured Bon Iver's vocals. I can't help but be so amazed when I found out that
