The digital painting with Note 10+ series continues. Yesterday, I shared one of my first attempts at a colored portrait, Diletta. I had so much fun browsing through all these amazing photography portraits back there on Pinterest. In particular, I like those that would be both a challenge and an enjoyment to draw.

This time, backed with its good lighting, good colors, and pretty subject, I chose one of Aiyana Lewis' portraits as reference.

Aiyana

Aiyana Lewis is an American model that has had stints with popular brands like Dior. Personally, I felt that she looks kind of part Vanessa Hudgens and Kelsey Merritt.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who the photographer for that specific portrait was. Whoever he is, I really loved how his photograph of Aiyana turned out.

Details

  • Apps:
  • Brushes: watercolor (80%, 15%); airbrush (37%); pencil (100%); blur (100%)

I kind of have extensively used blur this time, hence the super pillowy look. The colors this time were chosen a little bit more critically -- I wanted to stop second-guessing colors.

The sketch was easier this time; I think it has to do with how she's posed? Anyway, unlike in Diletta, I had less problems sketching Aiyana here.

If there was something I enjoyed in this work, I think it's the freckles. I know! I had problems on Diletta's freckles, but this time, I liked drawing them in. The tiny hairs on her forehead felt a little awkward, but I wouldn't have this any other way.

If it feels incomplete...

If I remember right, it was one artist here (or back there) that said if a drawing feels incomplete, then it probably is. Or something along those lines. I always interpreted that as -- if something feels wrong in the drawing, there probably is. It was just a matter of finding it and fixing it. Something feels both wrong and all right this time, but I'll settle with it's all right for now.
