Hoy mi proyecto estuvo bastante accidentado por los cortes de servicio eléctrico tan prolongados, bueno ese es el pan nuestro de cada día, la verdad es que hago esfuerzos imperiosos por mantenerme activa.
Mi idea principal era reciclar el aplique de un cintillo que hice hace tiempo y por uso se puso feo, y llenarlo de flores hechas con foami flexible... Sin embargo pasaron cosas, como dije anteriormente. Comencé a grabarme y a penas iba por los 6 minutos cuando volvieron a cortar el servicio eléctrico, no pude avanzar porque necesitaba el silicón caliente. Luego de 9 hora sin servicio eléctrico decidí terminar con la diadema, me fijé que si le colocaba las flores lo iba a sobre cargar y quitaría el protagonismo al aplique, y prefiero hacer otra diadema solo con las flores la siguiente vez.
Los apliques artesanales en porcelana fría son costosos, así que si se daña el gancho o diadema en donde vienen y se encuentran en buen estado es bueno volver a darles una segunda oportunidad.

Today my project hit quite a few snags due to the prolonged power cuts – well, that’s just part and parcel of daily life; the truth is, I’m doing my very best to stay active.
My main idea was to upcycle the headband I made a while ago, which had become rather scruffy from wear and tear, and decorate it with flowers made from flexible foam… However, as I mentioned earlier, things didn’t go to plan. I started filming myself and had barely reached the 6-minute mark when the power went out again; I couldn’t carry on because I needed the hot glue. After 9 hours without power, I decided to finish the headband. I realised that if I added the flowers, it would be too busy and take the focus away from the appliqué, so I’d rather make another headband with just the flowers next time.
Handcrafted cold porcelain appliqués are expensive, so if the clip or headband they’re attached to gets damaged but the appliqués themselves are still in good condition, it’s worth giving them a second chance.

Forro el cintillo, corto diagonal la punta dela cinta de raso y comienzo a forra el cintillo aplicando silicón caliente.
Corto tres trozos de cinta de raso para formar un lazo, uno por el centro, paso una costura a mano y aprieto para fruncir, luego coloco el otro trozo más pequeño sobre él y aplico el mismo procedimiento, remato para cerrar el punto.
Pego el aplique sobre el lazo.

I cover the headband, cut the end of the satin ribbon diagonally and start covering the headband using hot glue.
I cut three pieces of satin ribbon to make a bow: one for the centre. I sew it by hand and pull it tight to gather it, then place the other, smaller piece on top of it and repeat the same process, finishing off to secure the stitch.
I stick the appliqué onto the bow.

Corto un trozo de cinta de raso de 30 centímetros aproximadamente, coso por el borde para hallar el hilo y fruncir, luego uno con el otro extremo.
Pego el lazo de la pieza fruncida y luego pego el aplique de un lado de la diadema, definitivamente estos son mis colores favoritos, me encantaría aprender hacer estos apliques, hay que practicar mucho, son realmente lindos y podemos combinarlos en diferentes accesorios.
Ya será para la próxima que cubra como deseo toda la diadema con flores hechas de foami flexible.

I cut a piece of satin ribbon about 30 centimetres long, sew along the edge to find the thread and gather it, then join it to the other end.
I glue the bow onto the gathered piece and then glue the appliqué onto one side of the headband. These really are my favourite colours; I’d love to learn how to make these appliqués – it takes a lot of practice, but they’re really pretty and we can use them on different accessories.
Next time, I’ll cover the whole headband with flowers made from flexible foam, just as I’d like.
