When teaching about Hive, I offer the very real world comparison of shopping across many shops in town vs. going to mall and shopping all in one location with the option of shopping at any particular store I wanted to.

Just because Macy's wasn't like Forever21 didn't make either not worth visiting. I don't have to go into every store in the mall. It's there. They exist. If I want to shop shoes at Foot Locker or shop for tech at the Apple Store, I can. But I don't have to.

When coupled with the one for one explanation of traditional platforms to dApps (3Speak is like YouTube, LikeTu is like Instagrm, etc), every single person I gave this example to immediately understood.
