La Cabanaya Pub is a Café - Pub located in Jijona (Spain), a project carried out in 2019 and whose client is a great friend of mine.
The main condition to be resolved in the space is that it must be adaptable to two types of environment, in the afternoon there is a focus on coffee and drinks, but after a certain hour, normally at night, it must be easily transformed to a party atmosphere.
As it is a closed place without any entry of natural light, the project was approached with the intention of transforming that feeling of a cave into the complete opposite. In the afternoon, people must have felt as if they were in an outdoor space and not in a closed place. The following image is from the Before, so you can get an idea of that closed feeling that I was telling you about...

La Cabanaya Pub es un Café - Pub situado en Jijona (España), proyecto llevado a cabo en el año 2019 y cuyo cliente es un gran amigo mío.
El principal condicionante a resolver en el espacio es que debe de ser adaptable a dos tipos de ambiente, en las horas de la tarde hay un enfoque de cafés y copas, pero a partir de cierta hora, normalmente en la noche, se debe transformar fácilmente a un ambiente de fiesta.
Al tratarse de un local cerrado sin ninguna entrada de luz natural, el proyecto se abordó con la intención de transformar esa sensación de cueva en todo lo contrario. En la horas de la tarde la gente debía de sentirse como si estuviera en un espacio exterior y no en un local cerrado. La siguiente imagen es del Antes, así os hacéis bien una idea de esa sensación de cerrado que os comentaba...

On the other hand, the bar had to be moved in order to take advantage of direct access to the largest warehouse located at the back of the premises. And another factor that the client suggested to me is that in the central pillar he liked the idea of turning it into a tree.
With all this, and with many hours of work. La Cabanya emerged.

Por otro lado, la barra debía desplazarse para así aprovechar un acceso directo al almacén más grande situado al fondo del local. Y otro factor que el cliente me sugería es que en el pilar central le gustaba la idea de convertirlo en un árbol.
Con todo esto, y con muchísimas horas de trabajo. Surgió La Cabanya.

In the design from the beginning it was clear to me that this pillar had to become a tree, and finally this option was the most convincing and realizable, and that also later became the key piece for night lighting.

En el diseño desde un principio tuve claro que ese pilar debía de convertirse en un árbol, y finalmente esta opción era la más convincente y materializable, y que además posteriormente se convirtió en la pieza clave para la iluminación nocturna.

With all these conditions arises a concept to follow for the general design of the premises. That concept is like a cabin or Cabaña in Spanish. We imagined the space as that place where you would meet your friends as a child, that cabin made of wood and palm leaves that you built with a lot of imagination and that was the meeting point in the afternoons after school.
Con todos estos condicionantes nos surge un concepto a seguir para el diseño general del local. Ese concepto es La Cabanya, imaginamos el espacio como ese lugar donde te reunías con tus amigos de niño, esa cabaña de maderas y hojas de palmera que construíais con mucha imaginación y que era el punto de encuentro las tardes después del colegio.

The space in the afternoon responds to an afternoon space, with tables and chairs and with more accentuated lighting, it transmits a feeling of warmth and well-being, the wood that populates the entire space generates a lot of naturalness. At night all the furniture is removed and the high tables are collected to free up space in a very subtle way.

El espacio por las tardes responde a un espacio de tardeo, con mesas y sillas y con una iluminación más acentuada, nos transmite una sensación de calidez y bienestar, la madera que puebla todo el espacio genera mucha naturalidad. Por la noche se retira todo el mobiliario y las mesas altas se recogen para liberar espacio de una manera muy sutil.

Indirect lighting plays a leading role in the space, generating plays of light and shadow in a very varied and creative way. With this we can adapt the space to the environments that arise throughout the day.

La iluminación indirecta juega un papel protagonista en el espacio, generando juegos de luces y sombras de manera muy variada y creativa. Con ello podemos adaptar el espacio a los ambientes que van surgiendo a lo largo del día.

The tree is equipped with 18 led strips fully synchronized and programmable from a computer. During the day they respond as one more generator of atmosphere. In party mode they provide more rhythmic and spontaneous light effects that generate very dynamic and magical visual effects.

El árbol está dotado de 18 tiras led totalmente sincronizadas y programables desde un ordenador. De día responden como un generador más de ambiente. En modo fiesta aportan efectos de luz más rítmicos y espontáneos que generan unos efectos visuales muy dinámicos y mágicos.

All the spaces in the premises follow the same line of organic and natural design.

Todos los espacios del local siguen esa misma línea de diseño orgánica y natural.

On the ceiling, taking advantage of the large double ceiling that we had, we made some skylights adapted to the geometry of the geometric branches of the tree, which we backlit to simulate natural lighting entrances, accompanied by plant elements.

En el techo aprovechando el gran doble techo del que disponíamos, hicimos unas claraboyas adaptadas a la geometría de las ramas geométricas del árbol, que las retroiluminamos para simular entradas de luz natural, acompañadas de elementos vegetales.
