Bitcoin is still in it's infancy in terms of it's structure and idea. Bitcoin is a large database that logs and remembers transactions using very complex logarithms to code every transaction. No transaction will ever be the same and the system updates itself very often to keep up with new algorithms and transactions. The thing about Bitcoin is that every individual that buys or sells is always kept anonymous and the only way to trust the system are by the coded transactions.
In other words Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency. Decentralized is defined to that no bank owns the currency. The complex logarithms can also be called encryption. This encryption allows to keep things secretive but also to how the currency is generated. The logarithms regulate how people generate the currency and also verifies transactions.
What you can do, is you can purchase Bitcoin currency through a website called Coin Base. When you sign up, to add your bank account so you can add money into Bitcoin, it may take 5 to 7 days get get approved and go from your bank account to your bitcoin wallet. From what I'm hearing Coin base is a well trusted site. When you have your wallet, your wallet will be an encrypted code containing letters and numbers. Your wallet is how you can transact.
That's my run down on Bitcoin! I hope you learned something! Cheers, and happy Blogging!
