there is a giant ferris wheel located in the park at Elisabeth Square in downtown Budapest. it's visble from a long distance which means when you're in it you can see a long ways, taking in all the wonderful sights of both Buda and Pest along with the Danube River that separates the two and of course the bridges that cross it. having toured the city for several days we decided to take a ride at night. we weren't alone but it was off season so there wasn't a long wait.

once inside the glassed-in box we started rising upward getting great views of the city at night. this is not a post about touring the wonderful city of Budapest, which i recommend doing but here i will focus on a couple of unexpected reflections from the ride. but first to understand them i include this shot looking straight through the center of the wheel showing the structure of the wheel and the boxes on the opposite side.

here at this not particularly high level we got a great view of the nearby yellow building. we were surprised when the somewhat ghostlike reflection of the view through the center of the wheel showed up on the glass of the box where we were sitting. our own dark reflection can also be seen along with some unidentifiable items that add to the unusual scene.

when higher up and facing the other direction the reflection of the wheel showed up again. beside it is a decidedly more ghostly reflection of myself. it may be hard to discern at first but my white cap and gray sideburns outline my invisible face.

happy hunting
