this is a series of shots looking in the window of the relatively newly established oslo glass studio. it very nice inside, both an exhibition and a workshop where glass art and artifacts are blown and otherwise created. however for this set the glass i am focusing on is the storefront window. the reflections are curiously semi-transparent.
on the left we can see the tile flooring of the studio seamlessly merging into the cobblestone pavement outside. in the middle of the photo a brown vase is placed on a solid stand yet underneath the stand vanishes. behind that a van and a car are parked inside amongst the glass art while branches of trees are cleverly positioned as decoration
the wire fence seems to be outside the building while the green glass objects at the bottom in the middle are clearly inside. it is virtually impossible to see the where the window is as the green glass seems closer than the wire fence. at the top of the photo where there are patches of blue sky the reflection is close to opaque while the shaded areas where the dense tree is are close to transparent. a ghost has appeared behind the van but perhaps more striking is the transparency of the solid stands on which the glass artifacts are displayed
a photographer is taking a shot of me- because of the writing on the glass wall we can at least determine where the window is.
'zooming in a little we can clearly see the lettering on the nameplate on the wire fence is mirrored proving the wire fence is indeed outside. but since the design on the window obliterates the fence pole the pole must be inside
what a wonderful mess. there's some modern art in the glass studio that you only can see from the outside and only when the conditions are right
the image displayed on the screen changes slightly depending on the angle it is viewed from. from some angles it appears that the window design blocks out the fence pole indicating the pole is inside the shop. however if you change the angle a little there are positions where it can be determined that the poles are complete without interruption from the window design. that proves once and for all the pole is outside and what you see is not the pole itself but a reflection of it.
