North Texas Mushrooms from the Archives
While perusing my personal archives recently, I came across the fungus collection. Below are a few samples.
None of these have a positive ID; all of these specimens were found in the wild in North Texas.
There were so many of these growing in giant clusters at the base of a dead/dying tree. Although it appears to be night time in the picture, there was still some leftover twilight that the camera couldn't capture. It made the fruits look like they were almost a glowing golden brown.
The height of this fruit is what first caught my attention, rather than any bright color or pattern. The cap wasn't giant, but it stood noticeably taller than anything in its immediate vicinity.
I like the contrast of this picture. Plus, the fruit has an interesting texture and even a jaunty little lean.
