Hi Dear Friends,

You Know Thumbnail is the first impression of any blog or vlog. It attracts the reader and viewer first sight. When you can attract any reader with first impression then, he will be in your post or vlog. Thus, you can easily understand, how important it is to make quality thumbnail for the post. We find different apps or net based platform to make some quality thumbnails but most of those are not full free and there will be a watermark of that service provider. So, it will be odd looking. Some of the us may not have good knowledge on heavy editing software’s e.g. Adobe Photoshop like me. Thus, he can face trouble in making thumbnail for his post. On the other hand, for any simple task like Thumbnail making I think its not wise to use heavy software and spending much time on it. If we spend huge time in thumbnail making then it will impact on the timing of post or content creation.

I have a solution of these problems and that is using light software. Exactly I do so. I use Microsoft PowerPoint to do so and its very handy to me. It takes about 2/3 minutes to make a good thumbnail. PowerPoint is very familiar and convenient application to most of us. That’s the reason its handy. I am going to share here how to do this very easily-

Step 1:

First of all, we need to use above PowerPoint 13 version for the layering option. If you have version lower than 13 then you need to update to get is done simply and easily. Open the PowerPoint Application first, then create a new slide and delete the text boxes.

Step 2:

Now we need to set size of the slide so that we can get proper output of the image. By default, its 16:9 aspect ratio. You can change it if you need. But most of the cases 16:9 ratio is very convenient. By keeping this aspect ratio, you should increase the size of image so that it can be of high resolution. For this go to Design tab=> Slide Size => Landscape => Custom Slide Size. Then put 17.78” and 10” in the boxes like the following shown image. This size will create a thumbnail below 1 MB of size and about 500 KB. Its best suit for posting, I think. You can make as you want by changing the size in this box here.

Step 3

Go to Insert Tab => Shape => Oval Shape. You can choose any other shape as you like most. I am showing a simple one you can make quickly.

Place the oval shape into the slide corner by zooming out the slide first. Then it will look like the following image. You can change the colour and styling of the oval shape very easily if you need according to your choice.

Step 4:

Now I shall insert my photo and hive logo from my device. Keep in mind that, you need a background-less image to get better performance. You can smartly move background-less image into any side you’re your slide. Thus, background-less is preferable. Otherwise, you need to fixed your image in a rectangular shape perfectly to look it better. I shall show you next time, how to make your image background-less very easily.

Fitting these images into the desired position by sliding with mouse. Now it looks like

Step 5:

Insert Tab => Word Art => select any text format you like to.

I am writing “How to easily make Thumbnail in 2 minuties” here then increased the size of “Thumbnail” writing.

Its enough for a simple thumbnail.

Step 6:

I am showing some advance feature here, so that you can also decorate your thumbnail by layering. For this, I have duplicated the slide so that I can have first one as a backup. To change the white portion only I am inserting another background image here again from insert tab.

Go to Format Tab => Selection pane => Put this image down to all images by using below arrow key. And this is the layering you can do in Powerpoint. As I have putted this image very much down, so its acting as a background.

As the image is more visible than writing, so I am showing another tool to make it blur or change the colour. You can change style as you want. For doing this go to Format tab by selecting the background image, then Change Correction, Colour and/or Artistic Effect as you like most. I have changed colour into green, made blur correction in Artistic effect and then changed the colour of Thumbnail writing into yellow to highlight it more.

That’s done. Save it as jpg or png format. Here are your two thumbnails. One is in the top of the post. And backup thumbnail is here below.
